Visit to Alpine Primary School in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain
READ to RISE volunteer readers, Kevin, Nicholas, Roscoe, and Taryn, visited the Grade 2 learners at Alpine Primary School in Beacon Valley on Tuesday 12 August for International Youth Day. There were four Grade 2 classes and our Readers read to 170 learners and gave each child a copy of OAKY AND THE SUN to take home. Also, a Mini-Library was handed over to each of the four Grade 2 classes. The teachers and children were excited to get these books. The books and Mini-Libraries were sponsored in memory of the late Gaspar da Silva Cardoso who loved reading and education.
Six OAKY AND THE SUN books were sponsored by Aidan Sullivan, who is an avid reader and hopes to encourage other children to read with his monthly contributions. Thank you Aidan!
